  • Food coloring in yellow, blue, and copper
  • Small cup
  • Toothpicks
  •

Minion Cake:
First I baked 3 round cakes in a 6x2 in. cake pan ( 2 vanilla and 1 german chocolate) by following the directions on the box. The only thing I changed is the amount of eggs, instead of 3 eggs for each box I only put 2 egss per box.

Then I cut the tops of the two bottom cakes so that they would be flat when I stacked them on top of each other.

Then I put a small amount of yellow food coloring on a small amount of frosting and mixed it to get yellow frosting. I got the vanilla round cake that had been cut on top and added a layer of yellow frosting to the top and put 4 lollipop sticks before I added the second round cake.

I did the same thing to the next layer until I had all three layers stacked on top of each other. Once all three had been stacked, I covered the entire cake with yellow frosting.

Once I finished layering the cake with frosting I started making the party hat. I took the ice cream cone and covered it with red fondant. I also mixed a small amound of yellow food coloring with white fondant and made small round circles to be used a polka dots and a big yellow ball for the top of the hat.

To make the eyes I took some black fondant and cut 2 circles with a cup. Then with white fondant I took a small cup and cut 2 more circles. I then took a small amount of copper food coloring and dyed white fondant to make 2 small dots, and then took some more black fondant and made 2 smaller dots and put them together with a little bit of frosting so they would stick.

To make the overalls I took some white fondant and added some blue food coloring and then I just covered the bottom of the body with blue.  I also took a small ball of blue fondant and used it as the legs. I cut 2 strips for the straps of the overalls. To make the hair I took a couple toothpicks and covered them in black fondant. I also took a small strip of black fondant to make the mouth. To make the tongue I just took a piece of red fondant and stuck it to the top of the mouth. For buttons I just took 2 round circles of black fondant and stuck them to the straps of the overalls. I made 2 balls of black fondant and used them as shoes and then some more for the hands. For the arms, I took some yellow fondant and rolled it. Then I made 2 longs strips of black fondant to hold the goggles together. And this was my end result.

Minion Cupcakes:

Since I had some leftover german chocolate mix from the cake I decided to make 5 cupcakes to add to the cake.

First I baked the cupcakes with black liners in the cupcake pan, and let them cool.

I then covered 1 cupcake with white frosting and the rest with blue frosting.

To make the body of the Minions I took two twinkies and cut them in half. I drew some eyes and mouth with the Betty Crocker white cake icing and the Wilton sparkle gel in black.

Using one lollipop stick per cupcake I added the twinkies on top of each blue cupcake. On the cupcake with white frosting I used purple spinkles and added a candle.

My end result:
