Jake the Pirate Cake

What you need:
Cake Mix
9 in. Round Cake Pan
12 in Round Cake Pan
Brown Sugar
Pastry Pride Whipped Topping
Blue Food Coloring
Yellow Fondant
Cake Toppers

How to:
First, I baked one 9 in. round cake and two 12 in. cakes and let them cool overnight.
The next day I took part of the whipped topping and added some blue food coloring and mixed it. On a separate bowl, I took the remaining of the whipped topping and added brown food coloring and mixed it together.
On the first 12 inch cake I covered it in blue frosting and then added the other 12 inch cake on top using lollipop sticks to hold it in place. Then covered the two cakes with blue frosting and added a small border around the bottom of the cake.
When that was complete I took the 9 inch pan and cut it in half. I took one half of it and placed it on top of the 12 inch cake and covered it with the brown frosting. I then placed the second half and placed it on top and covered it with brown frosting as well.
When the cakes were completely frosted I took some brown sugar and placed some on top and around the bottom cake. I then made some coins out of yellow fondant and placed them on top of the cake as well. Finally, I took the cake toppers and placed them as desired.

  • Pirate Candles
  • Fondant (white, yellow, black)

How to:
First, I baked a couple cupcakes and the loaf pan cake, and let them cool overnight. I bought the cupcake liners at Big Lots.

Once they cooled off, I took the loaf pan and covered it in chocolate frosting. I then took some yellow fondant and wrapped it around the cake and added a lock to make it look like a treasure chest. With white fondant I made a skull and added a black background to place on the top center of the cake. I also added a map to the top.

Next, I took the cupcakes and frosted them with Pillsbury easy frost vanilla frosting.

Finally I added some candles that I found at Party City which went perfectly with the theme. On the rest of the cupcakes I added a skull made out of fondant, a map, a beer mug, and chocolate coins. I spread out the rest of the coins on the plate.

  • 8x8x2 Cake Pan
  • Cake Mix
  • Vanilla Frosting
  • Chocolate Frosting
  • Swedish Fish Candy
  • Whoppers
  • Licorice
  • Pirate Pictures
  • Toothpicks
  • 6x2 Round Cake Pan
  • Blue Food Coloring
How to:
First, I baked both cakes at the same time and let them cool overnight. Then, I took the vanilla frosting and put some blue food coloring and mix it. I then took the square cake and covered it completely with blue frosting.

When that was finished, I took the small round cake and cut it in half. On one side I covered it with chocolate frosting and added the other piece and stuck them together. I took some lollipop sticks and used them to hold the boat on the square cake so it didn't fall apart. Then covered the boat in chocolate frosting.

When both cakes are completely frosted take the swedish fish candy and add them to the blue part of the cake then add the licorice and the whopppers to the boat as well.

Finally, I printed out some pirate pictures from my computer, taped them onto a toothpick and placed them on top of the boat.
